A Little Yellow House

With A Big Appetite

Java Jack’s Restaurant is recommended by The Lonely Planet, Fodor’s, Where to Eat in Canada and our many happy guests. Situated in a heritage house in the heart of Gros Morne National Park, Java Jack’s started as a cafe in 2000, serving good coffee and great bag-lunches for hungry hikers on the go.

By 2003 we expanded to include a fun and funky restaurant upstairs where fresh fish & seafood, wild game and vegetarian fare are served with good wine and locally brewed ales and lagers. The big organic garden (with the best soil in Rocky Harbour, if not Newfoundland!) supplies fresh greens and veggies as well the flowers for our dining-room and cafe.

Graham McDonald

“I recently had supper here; this gem in Rocky Harbour (Newfoundland) located in the wild Gros Morne . It is a nice place to eat with delicious food and the people are so warm and welcoming that it seems as if you have known them for years.“

Yuksel Eyyuboglu – Toronto, Ontario

“We love the quaint and artistic atmosphere and the commitment to fresh and delicious food. The menu is varied with lots of wonderful options. The staff is very attentive, friendly and very accommodating with three children. We also popped by for coffee and partridgeberry pound cake and lemon scones which are to die for and the monster cookies are a huge hit with the kids!“

Erin and Mark Smallwood – Corner Brook, Newfoundland

“This place is awesome. If you are looking for a warm cup of coffee on a cool day or a tasty meal served by super friendly staff, this is your spot!! A true depiction of Newfoundland culture.“

Charlene and Mark Barnes – Carleton Place, Ontario

“I came back to Java Jack's more than once and the service is great! I would highly recommend the salmon, the mussels, the salt cod fish cakes, and the sticky toffee pudding. Also, they make an excellent Dark and Stormy which goes along perfectly with the Gros Morne landscape. Love the attention to detail where the works of local artists are on display and for purchase.“

K. Murphy – Ottawa, Ontario
